Edit photo details

Start a restaurant study.

Start with one relative room. Add photos, features, rooms and measurements as you go.

Add a feature.

Add another room.

These are drawing proportions. A measured distance sets the real-world scale later.

How far apart are those points?

Use a known on-site measurement. Perspective in a photograph cannot establish this distance on its own.

Walk the room once.

  1. Start at the entrance. Photograph the doorway and the view into the room.
  2. Take an overlapping photo from each corner, keeping the floor and adjoining walls visible.
  3. Photograph the bar, host stand, dividers, tables and openings straight on.
  4. Record one known distance, then several independent wall and aisle measurements.
  5. At each doorway, photograph both directions before entering the next room.
  6. On the plan, place each photo’s camera and mark the same objects in its picture.

Furniture may move between visits. Record dates and changes in photo notes. Keep uncertain rooms blank until you have evidence.

Google Maps is useful for the address, approach and exterior context. Indoor dimensions still come from your photographs, plans and measurements.
